About San Manuel
San Manuel, Arizona originally was housing for its booming copper mines to the north and in-town smelter. Established in 1953, San Manuel was Del E. Webb’s first master-planned community (built for the mining company). Construction was assisted by M.O.W. Homes Inc. It is laid out in a suburban array of midcentury-modern and ranch style homes and has several shopping centers. The mine was once the largest underground copper mine in the world!
